Carlos Campos: Carlos Campos as a brand remains true to our original values of fine tailoring. Since the companies inception in 2007, our brand continues to modify silhouettes, incorporate different textures, and luxurious fabrics to create something special each season.
GG: What kind of guy rocks your line?
CC: A guy who knows quality and style. Generally the guy that wears my clothing is 25-38 and well traveled.
Tyson Beckford
GG: Where did you get the inspiration for your spring 2011 collection?
CC: Inspiration for the spring 2011 collection was drawn from romanticizing the traveled man. We wanted to create a casual collection, taking elements from the 50's and adding a modern twist.
GG: What is the process you use in pre-production to construct your garments?
CC: First I sketch, then the sketch becomes a flat. I make a draft, then a pattern. The pattern transfers to muslin.
GG: What are your favorite pieces from your spring 2011 collection?
CC: My favorite piece is the Anorak. It looks great and wears even better. It's something new for me this season and I love how it turned out. Also I really like the blazer with pull sleeves.
GG: What should we all look forward to in regards to the fall 2011 collection?
CC: The Poetic gentleman.
GG: In your opinion, what goes into making the perfect blazer?
CC: The perfect blazer needs high armholes. And having the perfect break on the back of your neck. Getting the length right is very important.
GG: How do you combine the essential elements of fit and texture into your product?
CC: By tweaking the fit until it's absolutely perfect. I like to have many people try on garments, to see it on different body types. As for texture, I'm adventurous! I test new fabrics and like to use new techniques in washes and finishes.
GG: What has been your most rewarding moment or best story as a designer?
CC: To date my most rewarding moment was winning FGI's Rising Star Award for Best Menswear Design.
GG: What can we expect next from Carlos Campos?
CC: Well, you will just have to wait and see!
