Shipley & Halmos Fill in the Blank Tour

In search of capturing the eclecticism of the quintessential Shipley & Halmos customer, designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos will travel to Barneys CO-OP locations around the country for the “Fill In The Blank” Tour 2010. For each city they visit, Sam and Jeff will meet with customers and take their pictures in a photo booth set up to gather a range of personalities and styles to publish in book form this Fall. Beginning the tour on August 12th on the East Coast, continuing through Texas and Southern California, and concluding on August 26th in Seattle, the tour will be an expansive portrait of Shipley & Halmos customers across America.

Since the debut collection from Shipley & Halmos in Spring 2008, Barneys New York has been a strong supporter of the brand. The modern versus classics dichotomy paired with a distinctive sense of tailoring and urban ease has come to define what Barneys customers seek from Shipley & Halmos.  Art, film, photography, music, and design that inform the Shipley & Halmos brand will become apparent during the road tour with their photo booth portrait book. A questionnaire will accompany each portrait so that with each flip of the page of the limited edition book, the spontaneity, honesty, and humor of the customer is revealed.

Beginning at the Madison Avenue flagship store in New York on Thursday, August 12th, Sam and Jeff will set out to visit stores in Boston, MA; Chevy Chase, MD; Georgetown, MD; Philadelphia, PA; Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Beverly Hills, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Costa Mesa, CA; San Diego, CA; and finally, Seattle, WA on Thursday, August 26th. While on the road, Sam and Jeff will keep an online diary of their travels through the brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages.  Custom t-shirts to commemorate the tour, similar to a concert tour t-shirt, will be available along with assorted custom Shipley & Halmos gifts for the willing participants. The book will be available this Fall to give readers the experience of the inspired world of Shipley & Halmos and Barneys CO-OP.
